Return to: Academic Departments
The Concentration in Strategic Management is appropriate for students whose career focus is on managing people and processes in established business environments, entrepreneurial settings, and nonprofits in today’s rapidly changing global environment. The Concentration focuses on the strategic decisions and actions that affect the creation, performance, and survival of business enterprises. The concentration also emphasizes essential competencies needed to manage others, such as building strong leadership networks, creation an innovative environment, motivating others, and demonstrating a commitment to personal growth. Students in this concentration will reflect on the purpose of organizations, their governance, and their role towards diverse stakeholders and society.
These competencies are relevant to graduates who will be managing others directly out of the MBA program; to those who want to build on their technical skills and assume increased responsibility in their organizations; or to graduates interested or in the process of starting their own businesses.
