Jennifer Dorsey, Director of Siena College’s McCormick Center for the Study of the American Revolution
The Certificate in Revolutionary Era Studies (CRES) is open to any student interested in the history of the American Revolution. The certificate program integrates multidisciplinary study of early American history with hands on learning opportunities in the Capital Region. Students will complete coursework in multiple disciplines and a required internship relevant to the study of the American Revolution. In order to achieve the certificate and do the required internship, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 must be maintained in courses for certificate credit. Students must also complete the requirements of their major field.
Students pursuing the certificate should consult the program director each semester to assure proper course selection and identify an appropriate internship site. CRES students are also encouraged to “study abroad” with the National Institute of American History and Democracy’s Collegiate Program in Early American History, Material Culture, and Museum Studies . Students will study at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and have the option to complete an internship with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Participating students may apply up to 9-credits completed at the College of William and Mary toward the Certificate. Please meet with the program director to learn more about these opportunities.
