Siena College Core Requirements

• Core Franciscan Concern (4 Courses)

Core First Year Seminar

First year seminar is a two-semester sequence. These courses may not be retaken. Students who fail one or both semesters make up the lost credits with one Core Disciplinary course for each semester failed. These courses may not be taken Pass/Fail.

Core Disciplinary

Students must successfully complete one course (minimum of 3 credits) in each of the following attribute areas: 

Students may use a maximum of one major course to satisfy the Core Disciplinary requirement area. These courses may not be taken Pass/Fail.

CREATIVE ARTS (CDA): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

ENGLISH (CDE): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

HISTORY (CDH): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

NATURAL SCIENCE (CDN): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA

PHILOSOPHY (CDP): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS (CDQ): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

RELIGIOUS STUDIES (CDR): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

SOCIAL SCIENCES (CDS): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

CORE FRANCISCAN CONCERN

Students must successfully complete one course (minimum of 3 credits) in each of the following attribute areas:

All departments, except Religious Studies, allow their majors to count one major course to satisfy the Core Franciscan Concern requirement area and no more than one course from a subject (i.e. History, English, etc.) can be taken to meet this area. These courses may not be taken Pass/Fail.

DIVERSITY (CFD): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

HERITAGE (CFH): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

NATURE (CFN): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.

SOCIAL JUSTICE (CFJ): CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING AREA.
