Dr. Jennifer H. Dorsey, Director
The Certificate in Public History is an interdisciplinary program that blends coursework in history, the creative arts, and business to prepare students for dynamic careers in public history. With a strong emphasis on experiential learning, the curriculum includes hands-on projects and culminates in a professional internship, where students complete a capstone project under the guidance of a local public history professional. Open to students from all majors, the program is designed to be flexible and personalized. Students will work closely with the program director to tailor their learning experiences for their individual career goals-particularly those pursuing fields that require advanced degrees, such as archaeology, library sciences, or material culture conservation-ensuring they are well-positioned for graduate study and professional success.
