CRJS - 300. Qual Methods in Criminal Justice 3 credit(s) This course is designed to introduce students to socially just qualitative inquiry using methodological approaches like observations, interviews, focus-groups, ethnographic, and archival research. Students will learn the process of doing criminal justice qualitative research by engaging in philosophical, theoretical, ethical, and practical considerations. Students will conceptualize and design a qualitative research proposal. The course will cover the basic techniques for collecting, interpreting, and analyzing qualitative data. Using qualitative inquiry, students will also learn about needs assessments and program evaluations in criminal justice settings.
