NURS - 300. Advanced Concepts of Professional Nursing Practice for the Registered Nurse 3 credit(s) This course serves as the foundation for the nursing program to introduce the student to the philosophical and theoretical framework of the Baldwin Nursing Program at Siena College. Caring Science is explored as a foundation for being, doing and becoming a holistic nurse. Historical and contemporary social forces that are key to the current roles of the professional nurse are introduced. Principles of holistic nursing theories are examined, including the creation of caring-healing relationships through the use of authentic presence and integrative health practices. Students experience the significance of self-care and reflection in order to apply these concepts to their practice as a holistic nurse.
