3 credit(s) An analysis of the development, organization and functions of American Political Parties. The course examines political parties as organizations, the party in the electorate and the party in government. Particular attention is paid to how well political parties perform the linkage role between the American people’s preferences and the content of governmental policy decisions. Students should have a working knowledge of American government.
