3 credit(s) This course will examine some of the ways in which different Irish national identities have been constructed over time. We will examine how those identities both contribute to and are borne out of the conflicts that arise when differing ideologies clash. We will examine these issues through fiction, poetry, historical and political essays, contemporary news, and first-hand observation and experience. This course will culminate in a ten day trip around the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in May. Travel fees apply and vary each semester.
