ACCT - 370. Accounting Information Systems 3 credit(s) This course offers a comprehensive overview of accounting information systems and their critical role in supporting internal controls, decision-making, and business operations. Students analyze how accounting data flows through transaction processing systems and explore how these systems are designed, maintained, and integrated across organizations. Key topics include financial reporting systems, data analytics, internal control frameworks, and fraud prevention. Emphasis is placed on understanding the inputs, processes, and outputs of accounting systems, along with the accountant’s role in evaluating and ensuring their effectiveness. Students will also gain hands-on experience with current and emerging technologies shaping the accounting profession.
