SWRK - 301. Introduction to Field

This internship provides majors with the opportunity to learn about the social work profession through working in a social service setting and discussing their experiences as well as professional expectations during bi-weekly group supervision.  In their internships, students provide services to the identified client population and explore the relationship between the organization, the community and consumers.  Emphasis is placed on developing professionalism, understanding systemic supports and barriers in service delivery systems and their role in advancing human rights and addressing social, racial, economic and/or environmental justice.  Internship sites must be approved by the Social Work Program. This requirement may also be met by PCST - 480. Internship in Peace Studies , or INSA - 480. Internship in Franciscan Service and Advocacy .

Note: Specialized professional courses, restricted to students who have been admitted into the Social Work Program.
