CRJS - 215. Introduction to Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG)
3 credit(s) The technique of Genetic Genealogy began in the early 2000s with the advent of advanced DNA testing. Now widely accepted, Genetic Genealogy is used to answer questions about human identity and solve crimes for law enforcement. This course explains how Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) works and how law enforcement is using it to solve previously unsolvable crimes. The course requires two subscriptions with monthly fees: an Ancestry.com student account which costs $4.99/month and a background check database subscription which costs -$20/month so students should consider these additional costs before enrolling.
