3 credit(s) This course is designed to give the students the opportunity to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills and concepts learned in the Criminal Justice Studies program. The course provides financial forensic services to small businesses and nonprofits who might not otherwise be able to afford such services. In this course, teams of students, supervised by Certified Fraud Examiners and other forensic accounting experts and faculty, perform forensic accounting analyses on live cases (real-time), working closely with the alleged victim organization, law enforcement officials, and members of the legal profession. The course embodies the precepts of restorative justice and reparation of the harm done to the victim(s), emphasizes the integration of an analytics minded approach to allegations of financial wrongdoing, and provides experiential collaboration with members of the legal community and law enforcement, alleged victims, and financial crime investigators. May be repeated once for credit.
