POSC - 210. Citizen Lobbying & Advocacy

This is an experiential learning course on citizen advocacy and lobbying in the NY State Legislature. The course will cover topics such as legislative process, legislative lobbying, and public advocacy. Course concepts will be applied by teams of students advocating for a bill during the current session of the NY State Legislature. Students will conduct policy research, develop advocacy strategies, and directly lobby state legislators and staff. The course requires significant work outside the classroom and students will be required to meet with legislators, staff, and advocacy groups off campus, usually at the state capitol. 

Prerequisite(s): POSC 100  or POSC 140  or POSC 205  or POSC 265
