English, B.A. with a Certification in English Education

It is the responsibility of the student to understand and fulfill the various requirements of Siena College, the English Department, Education Department, and the state to which they plan to apply for teacher certification. English majors seeking initial teaching certification in grades 7-12 will need to maintain at least a 3.15 in English as well as an Education and overall GPA of 3.0. In addition, only courses with a grade of C or above are acceptable toward meeting content core and pedagogical core requirements for teacher certification in the State of New York.
