Students pursuing the Adolescence Education: Chemistry dual major must complete the requirements for the Chemistry, B.S.  and the requirements for the Adolescence Education: Chemistry, B.S.  major.  Please see the Education Department  for additional information.

Requirements for initial teaching certificate in secondary education in chemistry: Satisfactory completion of any track for a degree in chemistry and all required Education Department courses. It is the responsibility of the student to understand and fulfill the various requirements of Siena College, the Major Department, Education Department, and the state to which they plan to apply for teacher certification. Chemistry majors seeking initial teaching certification in grades 7-12 will need to maintain at least a 2.5 in Chemistry as well as an Education and overall GPA of 3.0. In addition, only courses with a grade of C or above are acceptable toward meeting content core and pedagogical core requirements.
