The Adolescence Education: English dual major is a track in Siena College’s nationally accredited Teacher Preparation Program. In order to be eligible for the Adolescence Education: English dual major, students must complete the education course requirements below and the requirements for he English, B.A. - Education Track . Students will need to maintain at least a 3.15 GPA in their English major, a 3.0 in Education, and an overall GPA of 3.0.
The English major provides students with the necessary content knowledge, and the Adolescence Education: English major provides students with the pedagogical knowledge required to teach English at the secondary level. When earned together, the dual major in English and Adolescence Education: English prepares students to meet the New York State Education Department program requirements for initial certification in English (grades 7-12).
Students who complete the Adolescence Education: English dual major will earn a B.A. degree with two majors, one in English and another in Adolescence Education: English.
