The Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MAT ESOL) - Professional track at Siena University is a 30-credit program for New York State certified teachers who wish to earn additional certification in ESOL. Delivered fully online in an asynchronous format, the program emphasizes practical strategies for language instruction, literacy development, and assessment, with courses taught by experienced K-12 educators. Most students complete the degree in 1.5 to 2 years while continuing to teach full time.

Prerequisites: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 12 undergraduate credits in a world language (or) demonstrated proficiency. Students may be admitted to the program with 6 undergraduate credits in a world language. 
  • A current NYS teaching license
