The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Siena University is designed for individuals seeking initial New York State teacher certification in adolescent education or certain K-12 specialty areas. The program combines rigorous coursework with a unique, yearlong teaching residency that provides extensive classroom experience and mentorship. Students choose from a range of content areas: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics, Mathematics, Technology, Computer Science, Social Studies, English, Business & Marketing, and World Languages (French, German, Latin, Russian, Spanish). Flexible in design, the MAT can be completed full-time in as little as one year or part-time over two years, with courses offered in the evenings and online.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
