Adolescence Education: Chemistry, B.S.

The Adolescence Education: Chemistry dual major is a track in Siena College’s nationally accredited Teacher Preparation Program.  In order to be eligible for the Adolescence Education: Chemistry dual major, students must complete the education course requirements below and the requirements for the Chemistry, B.S. - Education Track .  Students will need to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in Chemistry, a 3.0 in Education, and an overall GPA of 2.75.

The Chemistry major provides students with the necessary content knowledge, and the Adolescence Education: Chemistry major provides students with the pedagogical knowledge required to teach Chemistry at the secondary level. When earned together, the dual major in Chemistry and Adolescence Education: Chemistry prepares students to meet the New York State Education Department program requirements for initial certification in Chemistry (grades 7-12).

Students who complete the Adolescence Education: Chemistry dual major will earn a B.S. degree with two majors, one in Chemistry and another in Adolescence Education: Chemistry.
