Meet the Finance Faculty
Finance Webpage
The Department of Finance is dedicated to teaching our students the nature and practice of financial decision making. The curriculum and methods of instruction are designed to develop the student’s ability to identify financial problems, analyze their impact, and design solutions which will withstand critical examination. To accomplish this, we provide our students with the educational framework necessary to become well-rounded, ethical, and innovative thinkers. This prepares students for fulfilling and successful careers in finance and provides the necessary academic foundation for graduate studies.
The Siena Finance program prepares students for careers in corporate finance, investment management, banking, and financial planning. Our program was recently designated as a CFA® Affiliate by the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute, certifying that our curriculum meets the Institute’s high and comprehensive standards. Students in the Siena Finance program have the opportunity to make investment decisions using real money in our Student Managed Fund class, and to earn their Bloomberg Certification by utilizing the 12 Bloomberg database terminals in our Market Trading Room. Students can work towards their CFA® or CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) professional designations in their Finance electives, and gain valuable real-world experience in internships with employers such as GE, Ayco, Merrill Lynch, Northwestern Mutual and Bank of America. Our students graduate with the knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the outstanding career opportunities available in the Finance industry, or to pursue future educational opportunities at the graduate level.
