SOCI - 310. Decolonizing Criminology 3 credit(s) This course traces the historical development of major schools of thought in criminology. Students will examine how the understanding of “explaining crime” has changed with the social, economic, cultural, and political transformations of the late 19th and 20th centuries. Students will critique Eurocentric intellectual traditions in foundational criminological theory and the impact of neo-colonial projects on indigenous communities.
