PHYS - 260. Thermal PhysicsThree hours of lecture a week for one semester. 3 credit(s) A study of thermal phenomena from a macroscopic point of view, including the development and applications of the first two laws of thermodynamics, entropy, thermodynamic potentials, and equilibrium phenomena. The concept of distribution functions is developed. This is followed by a study of classical statistical mechanics and the statistics of Bose-Einstein and Fermi-Dirac.
