HIST - 311. American Colonies, 1558-1763 3 credit(s) A survey of the origins and development of the English colonies from the Elizabethan era explorations of the Eastern Atlantic to the French and Indian War. This course emphasizes cultural exchange and conflict between Europe, Native American, and African peoples in the New World. Topics will include the economic and religious motivations for colonization, imperial wars, and the economic, political, and cultural development of British North America.
