CREA - 348. Costume and Makeup Design

A studio course in which students analyze and interpret a variety of dramatic texts for the theatre. Students develop an artistic concepts out of this study in order to render costume plates and makeup plots for the stage. Students will study the aesthetics and theory of design as well as current and past theatrical practice of costume design in the theatre. Students will be introduced to the history and politics of clothing and the cultural adaptations as applied to the stage. This course is designed for students with no theatre experience as well as those already acquainted with the stage. A field trip to a professional production is required. Theatre Lab Fee.

Prerequisite(s): CREA 112  or CREA 145
