BIOL - 190. Writing and Research Skills for Biologists

(3 hour lecture)
3 credit(s)
This course mentors students through the process of completing an original scientific study. Students work in groups to conceive questions, develop hypotheses, and design/conduct experiments. Students then work individually to analyze data and write a formal scientific paper communicating their study. Students gain a deeper understanding of science as a way of knowing, while developing their skills in quantitative analysis, reasoning, and communicating. The course emphasizes group workshops and includes extensive practice in writing, peer editing, and revising scientific papers.
