RELG - 387. Goddesses in India and Beyond 3 credit(s) A study of popular goddesses from the “east” and the “west” in their specific cultural and historical settings, with considerable attention to Indian goddesses. Explores iconographies, texts, and worship practices of several goddesses belonging to diverse religious traditions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and ancient Greek religions. Introduces interpretive strategies in goddess scholarship from comparative and feminist frameworks.
