CLSS - 325. Myth and Literature 3 credit(s) A close reading of selections from Ancient Greek and Roman narratives and poetry, as well as later works of literature that are influenced by myths, mythical themes, and archetypal figures drawn from these earlier works. This course traces the literary genealogy of mythical elements in later works such as The Inferno by Dante, Paradise Lost by John Milton, Antigone by Jean Anouilh, and Ulysses by Tennyson, among others. Special focus is given to these revisions as manifestations of changing cultural and historical perspectives.
