EDUC - 222. Into the World: Teaching and Learning with Nature

3 credit(s)
Nature can be a tool and a framework for learning any and everywhere. The purpose of this course is to facilitate understanding, confidence, and application of utilizing nature for teaching and/or learning. This class is not just for traditional teachers, but leaders and educators of all varieties - as well as those looking to learn more about themselves through nature. Students will reflect on their own connections to places and inquire about the potential of nature-based experiences for a socially just and sustainable world. This course will offer students experiences with place- and nature-based teaching and learning concepts through research, reading, hands-on endeavors, and resources. Students will inquire about and reflect upon current real-world examples of the course concepts (with the opportunity to learn with local community partners).
