This course expands upon the underlying framework and concepts introduced in Financial Accounting and Intermediate Accounting I in the context of how accounting fits within the contemporary business environment. As the second course in the Intermediate Accounting sequence, it continues the study of contemporary accounting theory and the application of generally accepted accounting principles to various financial statement items. Students will study the conceptual basis of accounting and deepen their understanding of the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial statements and related information while applying analytical tools to support business and financial decision-making.

Topics include current and long-term liabilities, stockholders' equity, investments, earnings per share, the statement of cash flows, pensions, leases, income taxes, and accounting changes and error analysis.
