GAME - 401. Capstone Game Design I3 credit(s) This course is the first of a two-part series in which Game Design majors across all tracks synthesize knowledge acquired from their previous coursework by developing and completing a complex digital game and thesis paper. In this course, students will undergo the initial four stages of game development: planning, preproduction, production, and testing. Teams consisting of students from all tracks will establish the game's concept, level designs, elements, and player motivations through sprints led and determined by the Production Marketing & Management students. Concurrently, students will lay the groundwork for their thesis papers by writing their game pitch, market analysis, paper outline and annotated bibliography. Through intensive study, students will examine current trends and critical perspectives in digital game design and relate this research to their own work. Students will receive guidance and support from mentors within their track as well as experts from the field of game design to facilitate their portfolio development and project execution. Prerequisite(s): Senior status required. Attribute: EXCA |
