NURS - 341. Infusion Therapy

This course provides a holistic perspective on the essential principles of infusion therapy with a focus on patient safety and the application of caring science during infusion skills practice. Emphasis is placed on the Infusion Nursing Society Standards of Practice and competency  criteria that affect the safe delivery of infusion therapy. Evidence-based practices are reviewed and provide a foundation for the delivery of safe infusion practice and care. Students examine principles to prevent intravenous (1.V.) and phlebotomy-related complications and demonstrate safe and proper techniques for I.V. insertion/care, phlebotomy, central line access/care, transfusion therapy, and parenteral nutrition practices. Course Fee $50.00

Prerequisite(s): NURS 300  or Permission of Instructor.
