Concentrations in marketing are designed for students who plan a career in which marketing plays a pivotal role. The concentrations are designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the concepts, tools, and practice of modern marketing. A career in marketing may be developed in different settings outlined in the concentrations, leading to distinct career paths.

The concentration in Sports and Services Marketing equips students to become more engaged with consumers through strategic marketing decisions and branding decisions as they pertain to sports, and services. This concentration will prepare students to excel in entry-level positions and provide the broader framework for future success in upper-level management. In this concentration, students will learn how to strategically market and brand teams, venues, athletes, sports events, health services, hospitality services, financial services, and not-for-profit services. Sports and services marketers understand how to leverage the assets of sports and service entities to drive consumer demand, effectively serve consumers, and yield sustainable customer relationships with satisfied customers.

Graduates take positions in both profit and nonprofit organizations and sports teams, leagues and related sectors (media, events, and athletes). This concentration is suitable for students that plan to pursue a marketing career in services and sports areas. Common career options include: event managers, not-for-profit services marketing, for-profit services marketing, sports promotions specialists, event managers, sports media managers, athlete branding, and team branding specialists.
