PHYS - 220. Modern PhysicsThree hours of lecture and one three-hour laboratory period a week for one semester. 4 credit(s) An introduction to modern physics. Relativistic dynamics, particle aspects of electromagnetic radiation, the wave aspects of material particles, the many-electron atom and nuclear structure are considered. The laboratory includes many of the classical experiments which led to the discovery of quantum mechanics. Lab fee.
