CREA - 327. Medieval Art

This course offers an overview of the art of Europe from the beginnings of Christianity to the Renaissance, a span of over thirteen centuries of dynamic cultural change. In the predominantly illiterate Medieval cultures, visual art was used to establish and communicate the evolving religious and political values. Students will study the works of art and architecture for which the Middle Ages is justly renowned: illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and architecture.

Prerequisite(s): CREA 231  or permission of the instructor.
