ASTR - 110. Introductory Astronomy for Scientists 3 credit(s) This project-based course focuses on select topics in modem astronomy. Topics covered include: the Sun and solar system; planets around other stars; stars and stellar evolution; the Milky Way and other galaxies; and the large-scale structure of the Universe. Students will work with data whenever possible and will learn to visualize data and interpret graphs using modem astronomical tools. Students will complete observatory labs which relate to the course content. The course culminates with a group-based research project.
